ROB ZOMBIE Releases First Teaser Trailer For His Movie The Munsters
The first teaser trailer for Rob Zombie’s planned film adaptation of the popular 1960s sitcom The Munsters has been revealed. The cinematic adaptation of “The Munsters” starring Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, as Lily Munster and Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster is set to begin filming in May 2021. Grandpa Munster will be played by Daniel Roebuck, who will also feature in the film. Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang is played by Richard Brake (“31,” “3 From Hell”). “Zoya Krupp the gypsy queen” is played by Catherine Schell (“Space: 1999,” “The Return Of The Pink Panther”). Also starring are Dee Wallace, Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson, and Jorge Garcia.
The teaser features a colorful twist at the conclusion, as well as a reproduction of the sitcom’s opening titles. The picture, starring Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, will be released in cinemas and streamed on Peacock concurrently this year.
“Attention Boils and Ghouls!” Zombie told fans in June when he announced he’d be scripting and directing the film. It’s true, the rumors are genuine! My next film project will be something I’ve wanted to do for the past 20 years! MUNSTERS, MUNSTERS, MUNSTERS, MUNSTERS As things advance, stay tuned for exciting details!” He’s posted multiple updates on his Instagram account in the months since, including behind-the-scenes images, as well as location and costume upgrades. In a departure from his previous films, Zombie stated in March on Instagram that this one will be rated PG.
“For those of you speculating, wondering, and assuming that ‘The Munsters’ would be dirty, violent, and nasty…well, you are wrong,” he wrote. “It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.”
The first “Munsters” sitcom aired from 1964 to 1966 and took a satirical look at suburban life and classic monster films. Despite having higher ratings than the similarly themed show “The Addams Family,” which aired at the same time, it was terminated after two seasons when the highly popular “Batman” series began to outperform it in the same time slot.
