Resident Evil 4 Remake: Get the Chicago Typewriter Gun
For those who have played Resident Evil 4 back in 2005, you may recall the many uncommon weapons that could be obtained after completing specific objectives. The Chicago Typewriter was a high-powered “tommy gun” in the submachine gun design that required no reloading and had a limitless supply of ammunition. Thankfully, this rifle comes back in the remake, albeit in a modified form. Check below to know how to Get the Chicago Typewriter Gun in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Chicago Typewriter
Originally featured in Resident Evil 4, Leon may purchase the Chicago Typewriter weapon from the Merchant for a whopping 1,000,000 Pesetas. The fact that you never had to reload it made it even more convenient for mowing down hordes of cultists, and its high stats meant that you rarely needed to. You couldn’t get it from the Merchant until you completed the main campaign, which in turn unlocked the “Separate Ways” side objective with Ada Wong.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Typewriter is back, although with some upgrades, in the Remake. This version, known as the “Chicago Sweeper,” isn’t fully functional until after the player purchases further upgrades from the Merchant, such as the ability to carry an infinite supply of ammunition. Therefore, additional resources are required to fully exploit this weapon’s potential.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Get the Chicago Typewriter Gun
This time around, you’ll need to complete the main campaign on Normal to get the updated Chicago Typewriter (or “Sweeper”). After doing so, you’ll be able to access the Professional difficulty, the hardest setting in the core series of Resident Evil games.
Then, replay the main campaign on Professional and get an A+ this time. You need to finish the campaign in exactly 7 hours or fewer to get an A rank. This involves not just excellent resource and ammunition management, but also rapid progression across sections, without stopping for cutscenes or detours. For this reason, we advise beginning this on a New Game Plus file so that you may bring over all of your equipment from your prior game.
The Chicago Sweeper can be purchased from the Extra Content Shop via the Main Menu if you reach A Rank on the Professional difficulty setting. Get it for 1,000 CP. Then, while still in the game, head to the nearest typewriter to get the weapon and stow it away in your briefcase. If you want to use it to its greatest capacity, though, you’ll need to invest in some improvements.
