Reports: “Entirety of Twitch” has been leaked, 125GB of data on streamer payouts, source codes, and more to come
According to Video Games Chronicle (VGC), an anonymous hacker on 4chan leaked a torrent file containing 125GB of Twitch data, including monthly content creator payouts from 2019 onwards, Twitch clients, proprietary services, and even a “unreleased Steam competitor, codenamed Vapor.” The hacker claims that his goal is to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space,” and he calls Twitch a “disgusting toxic cesspool.”
Users have already begun posting excerpts from the data logs, while Inven Global is currently downloading the torrent file for verification. According to the leaked data, top streamers are paid in the hundreds of thousands of dollars per month. Felix “xQc” Lengyel leads the September 2021 pay-out list with $752,467, followed by Jaryd Russell “Summit1g” Lazar with $362,987.
When it comes to years of payments, the figures quickly reach the seven figures, revealing how much content creators earn on Twitch. From August 2019 to October 2021, the popular Dungeons and Dragons broadcast CriticalRole was paid $9.6 million. For the same time period, xQc received more than $8.4 million.
The storey is developing, and the hacker has stated that more information will be released soon, so Twitch users are advised to change their log-in information as a precaution. At the time of writing, Twitch had not issued a statement.
