Rapper Mystikal is accused of first-degree rape and false imprisonment following his arrest

Rapper Mystikal, a resident of New Orleans, has been accused for the third time with sexual assault.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) reacted to a local hospital’s allegation of a sexual assault survivor about midnight the night before and arrested the Grammy Award nominee, 51, over the weekend, according to an APSO release.

According to NBC News, the woman received minor injuries in the alleged incident.

Mystikal has been charged with first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic violence battery – strangling, false imprisonment, and simple criminal damage to property after investigators identified him as a suspect. The investigation continues.

“[There is] a bail hearing at 3 tomorrow. We expect he will be released later in the week. Once he is we will begin our investigation of the allegations. There has been little opportunity to discuss them in detail thus far,”  His lawyer, Roy Maughan said

After being accused of aggravated rape, Mystikal (born Michael Lawrence Tyler) entered a plea deal in 2003 in which he admitted to sexual abuse and extortion. Accusations were made that he coerced his hairdresser into having sex with him and two bodyguards.

According to BBC News, the Tarantula artist was sentenced to six years in federal jail. Reuters reported that after his release in 2010, he was required to register with the state of Louisiana as a sex offender.

After spending 18 months behind bars, Mystikal walked out of the courthouse on $3 million bail after being charged with rape and kidnapping in 2017, reports the AP. By the time the second grand jury decided not to indict him, the charges had been abandoned.
