“Project Artemis’ – Jason Bateman Exits Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans film”

According to a recent story from Deadline, Jason Bateman has left his post as director on the upcoming Apple film Project Artemis.

Bateman, who was slated to both direct and produce the film through Aggregate Films, has reportedly quit the project due to creative differences. The decision was consensual and amicable, according to Deadline, with both sides allegedly valuing each other’s work.

The film, which stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, will now need to find a new director, according to the article, which also mentions that Bateman and Johansson’s production company, These Pictures, will continue to hunt for a prospective collaboration down the road.

According to a recent story from Deadline,

Rose Gilroy’s Project Artemis is set against the backdrop of the space race, according to reports. The plot and characters of the film are still being kept under wraps. Apple reportedly paid more than $100 million for the transaction. Bateman’s Aggregate Films will produce the film, which will also feature Johansson, Jonathan Lia, and Keenan Flynn’s These Pictures banner.

Evans and Johansson were supposed to reunite in Apple’s romantic action-adventure flick Ghosted. Johansson had to leave the picture owing to scheduling issues, and was replaced with Ana de Armas, who is presently filming Ghosted with Evans.

    Other details

Evans and Johansson’s latest work with Apple is Project Artemis. The Captain America actor previously participated in the streaming service’s limited drama Defending Jacob, and the Black Widow actress is presently working on the sci-fi drama Bride with Apple and A24.

Evans and Johansson acted in two comedies before anchoring the Marvel Cinematic Universe: 2004’s adolescent heist picture The Perfect Score, in which the blockbuster combo played high school students attempting to steal the answers to their SAT exams, and 2007’s babysitting dramedy The Nanny Diaries.
