Prince Harry was “persuaded” not to reopen Lady Diana’s case
The recent release of the Netflix documentary series with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle discussing royal matters has boosted Harry’s profile. The Duke of Sussex will also be releasing a book titled Spare at the same time as the docuseries.
The public’s need for insider information on the royal family has resulted in widespread coverage of the book.
In one section, Harry discusses the time immediately following the news of Princess Diana’s death.
After Lady Di passed away, Prince William and Prince Harry paid a visit to the tunnel in Paris where she, Dodi Fayed, and the car’s driver were killed in a tragic car crash while attempting to evade the paparazzi.
NBC News has a copy of the book’s “Spare” edition, in which Harry recalls that he and William wanted to reopen the crash investigation, but that they ultimately decided not to because of “persuasion” from people who are not named.
When Harry was only 12 years old in 1997, Diana was involved in a car accident that left her with severe injuries which ultimately took her own life.
He recalls that his father, King Charles III, was the one to tell him and his brother William the news.
“What I do remember with stunning clarity is that I did not cry,” Harry said “Not a tear. My father did not hug me”.
After Harry began seeing his now-wife, Meghan Markle, cracks in the previously solid front between William and Harry began to appear.
He told Good Morning America that he now believes Ladi Di would have been disappointed in his son because of the fight. The partnership needs to go through some tough patches, and I think she would be sorry about it.
Harry said, “I don’t think that we can ever have peace with my family unless the truth is out there.”
