Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Where to find Komala
Scarlet and Violet feature Pokemon from all generations, including the seventh-generation’s Komala. Here’s where in Paldea to track down that always-snoozing pocket monster, sought after by so many masters.
While not all 1,015 Pokemon are represented in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the Paldean Pokedex is still quite comprehensive, featuring creatures from each of the series’ eight Generations.
The Alola area of Generation 7 is just one example of a newer generation of Pokemon that can be found in the Pokedex. Oricorio, Bruxish, and Mudsdale, among many others, can be located in Paldea’s forests and oceans.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Where to find Komala
The Paldea area is teeming with Komala, and you can find them at any time of day or night. According to its Pokedex article, trainers can shake free any Komala they discover in trees by slamming into them with Miraidon or Koraidon.
Locations where trainers have reported seeing Komala include:
- South Province (Area Four)
- Artazon (in or around the trees outside of the city)
- East Province (Area Two)
- Tagtree Thicket
- West Province (Area Three)
Is Komala an evolving Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet?
Unlike Dunsparce and Girafarig, Komala did not get a new development in Generation 9. This effectively prevents significant improvements to Komala’s stats as it powers up.
Komala may lack an evolution, but its decent basic numbers still make it a capable fighter. It has a solid 115 Attack and 95 Special Defense as its starting stats. Unfortunately, its lackluster Speed, Defense, and HP make it vulnerable to being swiftly defeated by more powerful, more developed foes.
Comatose is Komala’s greatest strength, as it effectively grants it the benefits of the Sleep state without the drawbacks. Thus, it is immune to moves like Yawn and can be used by trainers who specialize in moves like Sleep Talk and Snore. The likes of Burn, Freeze, Paralysis, and Poison have no impact on Komala.
