Pokemon GO: How to Beat Cliff
The Captains of Team Go Rocket aren’t easy foes to beat. Defeating Cliff in Pokemon Go will be more challenging than taking on some lowly grunts, but with the information in this guidance, you’ll be able to do it.
Pokemon GO: How to Beat Cliff
Your team’s preparation will make Cliff’s usually formidable squad look like amateurs. Fortunately, not all of his picks are incredibly unique, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to put together a competitive roster. These are all of the Pokemon that Cliff could catch:
Pokemon 1
Larvitar (Rock/Ground)
Pokemon 2
Sceptile (Grass)
Kingdra (Water/Dragon)
Skarmory (Steel/Flying)
Pokemon 3
Tyranitar (Rock/Dark)
Swampert (Water/Ground)
Gyarados (Water/Flying)
Cliff Battle 1
Larvitar
Don’t give this too much mental energy. Larvitar evolves into the powerful Tyranitar, but it hasn’t gotten that far yet. Kill any foes that try to attack you with Grass or Water swiftly.
Best options are Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, Porygon-Z, Samurott, and Xurkitree

Cliff Battle 2
Sceptile
Don’t allow that Sceptile a chance to get a move on you. Just use your finest Fire and Flying type Pokemon to take care of the situation. Even if you used a Mega in the first fight, there are still many viable options available to you, many of which have been present in the game for quite some time and are simple to acquire.
These Pokemon are the cream of the crop: Mega Charizard Y, Mega Salamence, Heatran, Ho-Oh, and Celesteela
Kingdra
Your best chance against Cliff’s Kingdra is a Fairy-type Pokemon. While some Dragon types can succeed here, they need to be wary of Kingdra’s devastating attack. Because of its resistance to Dragon attacks, Dialga is an excellent choice among Dragon-types.
Togekiss, Sylveon, Mega Salamence, Mega Gyarados, and Dialga are all excellent options.
Skarmory
As with most Steel/Flying Pokemon, Skarmory can be a pain to contend with. If you encounter a Pokemon from the Johto region, use your strongest Electric or Fire move.
Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blaziken, Xurkitree, Reshiram, and Zekrom are some excellent options.
Cliff Battle 3
Tyranitar
If you’re down to your last Pokemon, running into a Tyranitar can be very intimidating. This Pokemon is an extremely potent Rock/Dark type. However, if you take advantage of its severe vulnerability to attacks of the Fighting variety, you should have no trouble defeating it.
Cobalion, Chesnaught, Buzzswole, Virizion, and Keldeo are some of the finest options.
Swampert
You shouldn’t assume that because your Swampert is terrifying to confront in battle that Cliff’s must be as well. Grass-types are the obvious choice here due to their high attack power. In this situation, Ludicolo is an excellent choice due to its resistance to many of Swampert’s attacks. Any decent Grass Pokemon, however, should be sufficient.
Ludicolo, Leafeon, Mega Abomasnow, Mega Venusaur, and Meganium are excellent choices.
Gyarados
Gyarados is where the route terminates. Even though it looks like a dragon, this huge monster is not one. Since Gyarados is a Water/Flying type, it takes a lot of harm from Electric attacks. A Zekrom with a Fusion Bolt will do the job perfectly.
Zekrom, Mega Manectric, Xurkitree, Mega Ampharos, and Zapdos are some excellent options.
Champion Pokemon Squad
It seems like Cliff always has a couple of big Pokemon in his collection. You can easily win this fight by fielding a squad designed to exploit their vulnerabilities. Use your protection tools effectively.
The perfect lineup to defeat Cliff includes:
Mega Slamence (Dragon Tail | Outrage)
Reshiram (Fire Fang | Fusion Flare)
Tapu Bulu (Bullet Seed | Solar Beam)
Secondary Team:
Xurkitree (Thunder Shock | Power Whip)
Dialga (Dragon Breath | Draco Meteor)
Heatran (Fire Spin | Iron Head)
Even if you don’t have every single one of those Pokemon, a team made up of strong options from the Fighting, Ghost, Dark, Water, Grass, and Fire varieties should still be able to triumph.
