Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Roark, Oreburgh City Gym Guide

Roark is the first gym leader in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Oreburgh City’s rock type specialist is the first, which implies he’s very straightforward as well. You can use our Roark gym leader guide to help you locate his party and the counters they’ll be using.

    Orebaugh’s City Gym Challenge

Aside from two trainers, the gym in Oreburgh City doesn’t pose much of a challenge to its members. There are two rock-type Pokémon in play, and you can choose whether or not to engage in a combat. Even so, gaining EXP is always a plus.

    ROARK’S POKÉMON

Since he is the first gym leader, Roark is limited to using only rock-type Pokémon. This is how he expresses his thoughts:

    Geodude, level 12, rock/ground
    Onix, level 12, rock/ground
    Cranidos, level 14, rock

    ROARK COUNTERS

With Piplup or Turtwig, you should be able to breeze through this gym. It is difficult for Roark to resist water-, grass-, fighting-steel-, and ground-type moves.

If you’re having trouble, stop at route 207 and get a Machop. However, there are no more counters accessible at this early stage of the game; however, Roark’s Pokémon should be punched down.

    ROARK GYM AWARDS

Outside of battle, you’ll be able to utilise the HM Rock Smash to break down any boulders in your way once you’ve defeated Roark. For your Pokémon to learn Stealth Rock, which deposits boulders on the battlefield to inflict harm on opponents when they swap out, you’ll get multiple copies of TM76. Stickers for your Poké Balls are also included.
