Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Candice, Snowpoint City gym Guide
A snow-type specialist, Candice leads the seventh gym in Snowpoint City in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Snowpoint’s gym leader guide can help you locate her party and surrounding counters by providing you with a list of those they’ve visited.
SNOWPOINT CITY GYM CHALLENGE
The only way to get around in Candice’s gym is to slip and slide your way down slopes to break large snowballs in Candice’s path, with occasional nonslip platforms in between. Before you can skate around freely, you must first defeat all of the trainers in the area. Work backwards from the snowball if you get stuck on where to slide to break it rather than moving from platforms.
CANDICE’S POKÉMON
With one exception, Candice only employs ice-type Pokémon.
Snover, level 38, grass/ice
Sneasel, level 38, dark/ice
Medicham, level 40, fighting/psychic
Abomasnow, level 42, grass/ice
Do not be surprised if Candice substitutes one of her Pokémon for another in the event that you have an advantageous type match-up with her in the game.
CANDICE COUNTERS
To counter Candice’s Pokémon, utilise fire, rock or fighting-type attacks. The fighting-type moves of her Medicham, on the other hand, will put a crimp in any plans to sweep her squad with a rock-type Pokémon. It is possible to use ghost-type attacks to quickly dispose of the Medicham.
Counters can be found in the following places:
Ponyta, fire
Route 206, 211, 215
Geodude, rock/ground
Route 206, 211
Machoke, fighting
Route 210, 211
CANDICE GYM REWARDS
Using the HM Rock Climb outside of battle will allow you to scale sharp cliff edges once you’ve defeated Candice. The ice-type move Avalanche, which deals twice damage when used by an ice-type Pokémon, may be taught to your Pokémon using TM72, which she will provide you with in abundance. Stickers for your Poké Balls are also included.
