Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: Byron, Canalave City gym Guide

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s sixth gym leader Byron is a steel-type expert in Canalave City. A list of his friends and neighbouring counters is provided in our Canalave gym leader guide.

    CANALAVE CITY GYM CHALLENGE

In the Canalave City gym, you’ll find yourself in a maze from many lifts. It’s easy to see the solution to this one as well. You’re on the right track if there are trainers to fight along the way. Keep pursuing the trainers and knocking them out until you reach Byron.

    BYRON’S POKÉMON

Byron’s Pokémon are all steel-type, which means they’re heavy and have great defences. This is what she has:

    Bronzor, level 36, steel/psychic
    Steelix, level 36, steel/ground
    Bastiodon, level 39, rock/steel

    BYRON COUNTERS

Even more frustrating is the fact that two of Byron’s Pokémon are also ground and rock-type. These Pokémon can still be damaged by ground and fighting-type techniques. Make sure to keep in mind that his Pokémon are naturally more defensive, therefore they may not be able to KO in one attack like other Pokémon would.

Here are some counters you may want to consider:

    Ponyta, fire
    Route 206, 211, 215
    Quagsire, water/ground
    Route 212, Safari Zone
    Machoke, fighting
    Route 210, 211

    BYRON GYM REWARDS

The HM Strength can be used outside of battle to move rollable rocks and clear passages once you defeat Byron. There are numerous copies of TM91 available, so you can teach your Pokémon Flash Cannon, a steel-type move that can weaken the special defence of your opponent’s Pokemon. Stickers for your Poké Balls are also included.
