Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: EV training guide
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pearl EV training guide is here to explain what Effort Values are and how to get them. These values can be checked, as well as other techniques and items that can be used to increase the power of your Pokémon.
What are EVS and EV Training?
Leveling up and EV training are two ways to improve a Pokémon’s stats. The Pokémon’s main stats grow as they level up, and you can see this in the post-battle screen. A Pokémon gains points in HP, attack, defence, special attack, special defence, and speed when it reaches a certain level.
Companions also have a secret and hidden category of metrics called Effort Values or EVs, which may be increased by levelling up. These stats allow you to go beyond and beyond the maximum level of the six major stats. There are a total of 510 EV points that can be added to a Pokémon’s stats. But each of the six stats is limited to a maximum of 252 EV points.
By eating vitamins or beating specific Pokémon, your Pokémon can gain EVs. A specific item or Pokérus infection can be used to post these values. The stats of your Pokémon can be greatly improved by combining the methods described here for EV training.
HOW TO SEE EVS
It is possible to get an idea of the number of extra points a Pokémon has in its stat pool despite the fact that EVs are an obscure stat.
To check the EVs:
Press X to enter your menu
Choose the Pokémon menu
Choose a Pokémon
Select Check Summary
On the summary page, choose the hexagon icon
On this page, you’ll find a Pokémon’s stats in the form of a number. Post-battle, you’ll see how these values change as your partners level up. It’s simple to keep track of your Pokémon’s usual stats as they improve.
When you’re in this menu, hit X to see your EVs. You’ll notice a yellow graph with no numbers after the hexagon’s numeric values are removed. You can get an idea of how many EVs each stat has, even if you can’t see how many points are deposited into each EV. A star next to an electric vehicle indicates that it has reached its maximum capacity.
EV TRAINING WITH HELD ITEMS
Using held items is a good method to get a head start on your EV training. The EVs you earn from defeating a Pokémon can be increased by using a variety of things.
Power Weight — +8 HP EVs gained
Power Bracer — +8 Attack EVs gained
Power Belt — +8 Defense EVs gained
Power Lens — +8 Special Attack EVs gained
Power Band — +8 Special Defense EVs gained
Power Anklet — +8 Speed EVs gained
Macho Brace — Double EVs gained
After completing the game, you can buy all of the Power items at the Battle Park. It costs 16 Battle Points to purchase each item.
You can’t buy the Macho Brace, unfortunately. To begin, you’ll need all three varieties of Burmy in your party. The Bug Catcher can be found north of the Poké Mart in Pastoria City.
TRAINING EV WITH VITAMINS
Vitamins can be purchased at several locations in Sinnoh. A ten-point increase in EV is provided by each of these vitamins.
HP Up — HP
Protein — Attack
Iron — Defense
Calcium — Special Attack
Zinc — Special Defense
Carbos — Speed
TRAINING EV WITH BATTLES
EVs can also be gained during combat. Every defeated Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl gives up a different number of EVs to the player. Increasing EVs by defeating numerous Pokémon with high EV values is a tedious but free method.
In order to obtain EVs in combat, it’s best to know which Pokémon you’re likely to encounter and which EVs they offer. If you’re looking for the most reliable choice, go for Pokémon that provide you two EV points in any one stat.

RESETTING THE EVS
To maximise your stats, you may want to reset your EVs to the maximum of 510 EVs in each of the six stats. Resetting EVs can help you better manage this hidden chain of points because each Pokémon can only have 252 EVs put into a single stat.
By feeding particular berries, you can reset your Pokémon’s EVs. A certain EV will be lowered by 10 points for each one consumed.

Qualot Berry — Defense
Hondew Berry — Special Attack
Grepa Berry — Special Defense
