Pokémon BDSP: How to Find & Catch Hippowdon
A Hippowdon can be found in Sinnoh in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. A pure Ground-type Pokémon, Hippowdon is immune to Electric-type attacks but vulnerable to Water, Grass, and Ice-type attacks. Ground-type attacks cause twice as much damage to Rock, Steel, Electric, Poison, and Fire-type Pokémon. Hippowdon is a competitive Ground-type Pokémon in BDSP, making it a sought-after Pokémon to catch.
In the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a Hippowdon could only be obtained by obtaining the National Dex or evolving a Hippopotas. As a post-game only Pokémon, Hippowdon reduced the available Ground-types, and Hippopotas was a rare Pokémon to find in the wild. Getting a Hippowdon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is now much easier.
Hippowdon can be found on Route 228 and Hippopotas in the Ruin Maniac Tunnel in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, however, exploring the Grand Underground will earn you one lot faster. The Explorer Kit crucial item in Eterna City unlocks the Grand Underground. When players interact with the NPC in the house next to the Pokémon Center, he will explain how to use the Explorer Kit. Hippopotamus may be found in the Grand Underground’s Rocky, Sandsear, and Big Bluff Caves, but only after defeating the Eterna City Gym Leader. With the Eterna City gym badge, every Pokémon in the Grand Underground are closer to level 30.
Best Moves For Hippowdon In Pokémon BDSP
Some of Hippowdon’s moves can only be used when a player finds and uses a Heart Scale in Pokémon BDSP. Heart Scales, like Hippopotas, can be found by mining the Grand Underground. Though unusual, finding two or three Heart Scales shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes. The Move Tutor in Pastoria City will teach Hippowdon some of its best moves in exchange for a Heart Scale.
There are a few Hippowdon moves that stand out: Stealth Rock and Ice Fang. Other moves include Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, Crunch, and Stone Edge. Its low Special Defense makes it difficult to employ against Water, Ice, and Grass-type Pokémon in BDSP. These Pokémon also have better Special Attack stats. But Hippowdon is still a great Pokémon to utilize and can even take on many of the Elite Four Pokémon.
