Pink Opens Up About Her ‘Brutal’ Hip Surgery Recovery on Instagram
In the end, Pink is victor.
The 42-year-old singer spoke up about her “brutal” recovery experience following hip surgery in an Instagram post published on Wednesday.
She posted a photo of herself smiling in black shorts and a tank top, thanking “everyone at The Steadman Clinic in Vail and Dr. Philippon,” saying, “This is what 9 hours of sleep and cuddles from my kiddos looks like 7 days post hip surgery!!” “for taking such good care of her.
After thanking her husband, Carey Hart, for helping her get through the most difficult aspect of her recuperation thus far, the three-time Grammy Award winner went on to praise him.
She went on to say, “I am never not completely grateful.” she concluded. It was a brutal first week full of tears and pain med depression, ulcers from meds and constant fevers, but my @hartluck brought me through. (No one recovers from surgery like he does, he’s not real.) he brought me coffee in the shower, lugged around my 100 pound CPM contraptions every where I went, dried my tears, cooked me oatmeal, kept track of my meds, got me my phone charger, plugged in my compression machines, took my temp, made the bed, and talked me off the ledge.”
When asked about the painful event, the “Lady Marmalade” singer said it taught her to ask for and accept help.
“I’m learning the gift of accepting help. My journey will be quick and intentional, And I will make a full recovery. For that I am so blessed.” she wrote in part, adding, “Life always reminds you that most setbacks are actually just pauses and opportunities to recalibrate and count your blessings,”
Although the reason for Pink’s Colorado hip surgery remains a mystery, it is just the latest in a string of operations the family has had to deal with. To fix his rotator cuff, Hart underwent shoulder surgery in August 2013. In September of this year, he had to return to the operating room for another disc replacement in his lower back.
After undergoing spinal surgery, Hart posted an Instagram photo of himself with a toy sloth to keep him company. “My son Jameson had mama bring this sloth to keep me company while in the hospital,” he wrote before thanking his wife for taking care of him. “And a special thank you, to my amazing wife/nurse who has taken amazing care of me through all of this. I love you baby.”
