A law enforcement official familiar with the case told that two police officers were shot during Fourth of July celebrations in Philadelphia.
Two law enforcement officers were injured; a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy was shot in the shoulder and a Philadelphia Highway Patrol officer was grazed in the head, according to the source.
A hospital representative told that both patients were transferred to Jefferson University Hospital and were checked in the emergency room before being deemed to be in stable condition.
Large groups of people can be seen running along Benjamin Franklin Parkway in videos shared on social media. Benjamin Franklin Parkway was the venue of a concert and fireworks display for the Fourth of July, according to the city’s website.
Police have not confirmed whether they have captured anyone in connection with the incident, but they have asked anyone wishing to reunite with loved ones who were on the parkway to do so to the Free Library of Philadelphia. Everyone else was told to stay out of it.
