Penn Chocolate Factory Explosion Leaves Two Dead and Nine Missing
Two individuals were murdered and numerous more are still missing after an explosion at a chocolate factory in Pennsylvania on Friday evening.
Chief Wayne Holben of the West Reading Borough Police Department has reported that two individuals were killed, nine are still missing, and many more were injured in the explosion at the R.M. Palmer Co. business.
A structure at the complex was destroyed and another was damaged when an explosion occurred at 4:57 p.m., sending a column of black smoke into the air. Holden stated at a news conference that the inquiry into the blast’s cause is ongoing.
Holden warned locals to stay away from the manufacturing location approximately 60 miles (96 kilometres) northwest of Philadelphia, despite the fact that the threat had passed.
According to Jessica Bezler, a spokesperson for Tower Health, eight patients were sent to Reading Hospital on Friday night.
She told the Associated Press via email that two patients were hospitalised in fair health and another five were receiving treatment and would soon be discharged. She mentioned that one patient was sent to another institution but gave no further information beyond that.
Firefighters from Berks County stayed at the site late Friday.
