Paige announces first wrestling date post departure from WWE
Paige’s first post-federation booking has already been announced for this fall, and it’s at a promotion that should hold plenty of personal importance for the actress. The soon-to-be Saraya will be at the World Association of Wrestling’s Frightmare IV at the Norfolk Showground on October 15th. Those who are familiar with Paige’s career and upbringing are aware that WAW is owned by her parents, Ricky and Sweet Saraya Knight, as well as her brother, Zak Knight, all of whom were portrayed in the film Fighting with My Family.
While the announcement states that Saraya will be “stepping back into a WAW ring for the first time in over a decade,” it also asks fans to stay tuned to see what exactly she will be doing at the event.
Paige hasn’t wrestled in a WAW ring in almost a decade, and she hasn’t competed in any in-ring combat since 2017 when a neck injury forced her to retire. In a time when wrestlers are returning to the ring after years away, such as CM Punk, and after a severe injury, such as Katsuyori Shibata, seeing Saraya return to the ring would be incredible to see – providing, of course, that she is healthy, which Saraya feels she is.
While Paige’s lack of a non-compete clause allows her to wrestle wherever she wants once she’s released on July 7th, and we could very well see her in a different promotion’s ring before October, it’s nice to see her make her first official appearance with WAW, and it should be exciting to see her potentially fight with her family once more.
