You may watch your buddies play matches in Overwatch 2 right from your own screen. The fact that this isn’t the most prominent element in the game also means that many people forget or never learn how to use it. We cover everything you need to know to spectate a player in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2: How to Spectate
It is not possible to spectate random players in Overwatch 2 unless you are already Battle.net friends with them. Start Overwatch 2 and go to the main menu if you want to watch a friend play.
Select the “Social” menu item that appears below. If any of your Battle.net friends are actively playing the game, their locations within Quick Play, Arcade, Competitive Play, Custom Games, and the Practice Range will be shown on a new page that will appear.
If you want to watch a friend who is presently playing, you can do so by right-clicking on their player card while you are hovering over it. Below is a snapshot of my friends list that I took on May 5, 2023, showing that clicking this brings up a tiny menu with the option to Spectate. If you want to watch their current game, just click the Spectate button. As simple as that!
