One Piece: A large pirate ship set has been shown by Netflix for upcoming adaptation
Media franchise One Piece is one of the most successful in history. As the best-selling Japanese comic series of all time, Eiichiro Oda’s original manga and its successful anime adaptation continue to thrive. For the first time, Netflix is working on a live-action adaptation of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates.
For Netflix’s Geeked Week teaser, show runners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens showed fans the gigantic pirate ship sets being created for live-action One Piece.
To see my favourite spots from the manga come to life was wonderful for Owens, who is the most ardent One Piece fan. “Oda’s world is so unique, seeing all of this stuff in person and being able to reach out and touch it has just been such an experience.” said one visitor.
The Going Merry, the pirate ship of the Straw Hat Pirates, and the Baratie, a restaurant ship with a fish-headed mascot, are both featured in this time-lapse film.
In Netflix’s upcoming One Piece series, Iaki Godoy will portray Luffy, a teenage pirate who has the capacity to extend his body like elastic and dreams of becoming the King of Pirates. Mackenyu plays Zoro, Emily Rudd plays Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson plays Usopp, and Taz Skylar plays chef Sanji in the rest of the cast.
Earlier this week, Netflix added a few more actors to the lineup. In addition to the axe-wielding Captain Morgan, Celeste Loots will portray Kaya, Alexander Maniatis will portray Klahadore, Craig Fairbrass will portray Chef Zeff, and Chioma Umeala will portray Nami’s adopted sister Nojiko, in the upcoming season of Sanji.
