Olivia Newton-John Tribute Shows of “Grease” at Movie Theaters
Many people were saddened by Olivia Newton-death John’s this month, but those of us who were raised on Grease were most affected. Newton-John starred as Sandy in the 1978 picture, which also starred John Travolta as Danny Zuko and is still widely regarded as a cinematic masterpiece. She lost her battle with breast cancer, which she was first diagnosed with in 1992, and so in her memory, AMC will be screening Grease this weekend for a reduced price, with a portion of the earnings benefiting breast cancer research.
The news, which is thrilling for many reasons, was broken by AMC CEO Adam Aron on Twitter.For several reasons, including the fact that some of the proceeds will benefit a charity established in Newton-John name. the film continues to draw audiences long after its initial run in theatres. For a noble purpose that hopefully will honour the Newton-John legacy, fans will get to experience Grease like never before.
