Olivia Benson, the cat of Taylor Swift, is rumoured to be worth $97 million
If you’re not among the world’s extremely wealthy one percent, Taylor Swift’s cat has more money than you do. Popular with the singer’s fans, the 33-year-cat old’s Olivia Benson was recently named the third wealthiest pet in the world by the website All About Cats, with an astounding estimated net value of $97 million.
Many of the highest-earning furry pals have become wealthy thanks to their online fame, which is reflected in the ranking based on Instagram statistics. Celebrity animals like Olivia, however, had their extracurricular activities taken into account.
“Olivia has found success outside of the world of Instagram influencing,” the listing read. “The Scottish fold earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos, has crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads.”
Indeed, Swift’s daughter Olivia (named after Mariska Hargitay’s beloved character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) has appeared in ads for DirectTV, Diet Coke, and AT&T, as well as the music videos for “Me!” and “Blank Space.” Visitors to the “All Too Well” singer’s 2015 concert may also recall seeing the cat in an interval film featuring Swift’s first cat, Meredith.
Although Benjamin, Swift’s third and most recently purchased cat, also featured in the “Me!” music video, he did not make the cut for All About Cats’ richest cats ranking.
Only a German shepherd named Gunther VI, valued at $500 million, and an Instagram celebrity cat named Nala, valued at $100 million, are more valuable than Olivia. She did place higher than Oprah’s five dogs, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette, and Betty White’s dog Pontiac, who both passed away before she did.
