Oculus Quest 2: How To Play Steam Games

Follow our guide to know how to play Steam games on an Oculus Quest 2. While Quest 2 is a standalone device and doesn’t require a cable connection to your computer in order to play the extensive library of Quest VR games, it also offers a connectivity option so that you may play, for example, Steam VR games on your PC.

Playing Steam VR games on Quest 2 does not require a USB cable because you may connect wirelessly with the Oculus Air Link. Users can wirelessly connect their headsets to a PC using Oculus’ Air Link feature.

Of course, the drawback is that you must purchase the VR games directly through Steam. Any VR-ready games in your Steam Library can be run using SteamVR. The SteamVR app may be found in your games library, so you can start there. Installing Steam VR and the Quest PC app is the first step.

Players must first have the Steam VR downloaded in their Steam app so they can play VR games without regard to the type of headset they use.

Step-2 To a computer, connect your Oculus Quest 2 device. Your life will be easier if you turn on the Quest 2 and connect it to a computer through USB-C using a longer USB-C connection because you won’t have to carry your Quest around for the sole purpose of installing games.

Simply turn on your Oculus VR headset and plug it into your computer’s USB port to set it up with a cable. Run the Meta Quest Virtual Desktop application after that, and then adhere to the setup instructions to connect your headset to your computer.

You actually have two major ways to connect the Oculus Quest 2 headset to Steam: manually with an Oculus Link connection or a generic USB Link cable, or wirelessly by downloading Oculus Air Link software.

Turn on the option labeled Experimental Features, then seek for and activate Air Link underneath that, just like you would on a PC.

Since Oculus Link is currently an experimental feature, you will need to enable it on your PC or VR headset. Official Oculus apps will be able to use Air Link instead of the standard N.G. by turning on Air Link.

By flipping this switch, apps will start using the wireless Air Link rather than the standard cable Link connection. As long as the PC has Air Link switched on and is connected to the Ethernet port, you should be able to launch SteamVR and play loaded games just like with a wired connection. Air Link should now be an option on the headset’s quick start screen.
