Nvidia has announced its next-generation flagship gaming graphics cards RTX 4090 and RTX 4080
The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 are Nvidia’s next-generation flagship gaming graphics cards. At the company’s GTC 22 event on Tuesday, Nvidia announced three new RTX 40 series graphics cards, the newest iteration of its popular RTX GPU family. The Nvidia RTX 4090 is the company’s most powerful consumer graphics card, and DLSS 3 will be released alongside the new GPUs. After months of speculation and leaks outlining every aspect of this card, Nvidia today formally introduced the RTX 4090 at the GeForce Beyond special event.
The GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards are powered by the revolutionary, ultra-efficient NVIDIA Ada Lovelace 3rd Gen RTX architecture, which provides a quantum leap in performance, neural rendering, and many other advanced platform features. NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX(r) 40 series of graphics processing units (GPUs) designed to provide game-changing performance for gamers and content creators. The RTX 4090 has performance up to four times that of its predecessor. NVIDIA, based in California, introduced its new generation of GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards during its digital launch event at GTC. These graphics cards promise four times the performance of the RTX 30X generation thanks to the new generation of DLSS 3.0.
Using Nvidia’s new Ada Lovelace architecture, which employs 3rd generation DLSS and 3rd generation DLSS, the first GPU is the GeForce RTX 4090, which features 24GB of G6X RAM and is reported to be two to four times quicker than Nvidia’s previous flagship GPU, the RTX 3090 Ti. Similar to the RTX 4090, both variants of the RTX 4080 are based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, which implies that all three cards will support Nvidia DLSS 3.0. The RTX 40-series GPUs will have new Nvidia ShadowPlay capabilities for recording games at up to 8K resolution, 60 frames per second, and HDR. In addition to all of the new cards, Nvidia also announced that certain games, such as Portal, will be able to use the RTX upgrade for ray tracing.
The successful debut of Nvidia’s new GPUs is crucial for the company, as many have criticized the previous generation’s lack of power, which Nvidia appears to have addressed with a minimum of 12GB and 16GB GDDR6X for the RTX 4080 and a massive 24GB GDDR6X for the RTX 4090. The previous-generation RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080 will still be available for $329. The pricing for the newest versions begins at $899 for the base 12 GB RTX 4080, with a 16 GB version available for $1199; the most expensive model, the RTX 4090, costs $1599. The flagship RTX 4090 will be released on October 12, followed by the RTX 4080 one month later in November.
