NeNe Leakes has revealed that her 23-year-old son had a stroke and heart failure
NeNe Leakes, formerly of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is seeking fans’ love and prayers as her son, Brentt, deals with “serious” health problems.
Two weeks ago on this day, Brentt experienced congestive heart failure and a stroke, she said in her Instagram Story on Monday. “He’s really young for something like that to happen to him.”
On Monday, TMZ reported that Brentt had been admitted to an Atlanta hospital earlier this month. While explaining her son’s illness to her Instagram followers, Leakes revealed that HIV or COVID-19 were among the possibilities being considered by specialists. She said doctors did a series of tests, but could not determine what caused it.
“It was very scary, I don’t even want to go into details. What happened, how I found out and what condition he was in,” Leakes said . “Obviously, a stroke is a very serious thing and he’s struggling with speaking … Just keep us in your prayers.”
Leakes mentioned her personal health problems as she discussed her son’s illness. She mentioned that in 2013, she had blood clots in her lungs, and now, doctors are “thinking that Brentt was born with some sort of disease, or something with his heart since he was a kid and it just never showed up until now.”
It is been a year since her son’s dad, Gregg Leakes, passed away in September 2021, and she stated he is been “very stressed out” ever since.
Adding that her son’s current health problems may be forcing the sale of the Linnethia Lounge, a club he helped run near Atlanta, Leakes said the establishment may be up for sale.
She finally broke her silence, saying, “This is just a lot on me right now, so if there is anybody out there that is possibly interested in the lounge, send them my way.” After Gregg passed away, I told Brentt, “It is possible that we will sell the lounge if they are interested in buying it.”
Leakes has assured her fans that her son is “in good spirits,” despite the club’s possible sale and his health problems.
Leakes had filed suit against Bravo and NBCU, the production firms behind the “Real Housewives” franchise, alleging a racist and hostile work environment. This announcement comes months after her lawsuit was filed.
According to the April lawsuit, “NBC, Bravo, and True foster a corporate and workplace culture where racially insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated — if not encouraged.”
