NBA player Iman Shumpert was arrested in Dallas for marijuana possession
Iman Shumpert, a former NBA guard, was arrested on Saturday at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport for reportedly having a “sizable” amount of marijuana in his luggage, according to TMZ Sports.
Flights from Dallas to Los Angeles were said to have stopped Shumpert on Saturday. A little over six ounces of marijuana was found in Shumpert’s backpack, according to authorities.
After that, Shumpert was taken into custody and put on trial for a felony. A $10,000 fine and two years in prison await the 32-year-old.
After Shumpert’s final season, he only played in two games for the Brooklyn Nets in 2020-21. The New York Knicks selected Shumpert with the 17th overall choice in the 2011 NBA draught. Prior to joining the Nets, he spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Houston Rockets.
Throughout his career, Shumpert averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. “Dancing With the Stars” in 2021 was also a success for him.”
