Mary Jane Thomas wife of Hank Williams Jr.’s Cause of Death Confirmed
Hank Williams Jr.’s wife Mary Jane Thomas official cause of death is confirmed
Elective surgery the day before had resulted in a perforated lung that collapsed on Thomas, 58, and she died on March 22, according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s report and an autopsy report. Accidental death was recorded as the reason of death.
During liposuction with autologous fat reinfusion, the parietal pleura was punctured, resulting in pneumothorax.
According to Science Direct, the parietal pleura is a membrane attached to the inner surface of the chest wall by connective tissue and plays an important role in the development and removal of pleural fluid. Following the removal of a breast implant, Thomas’ surgeon perforated the membrane and punctured her lung during a fat transfer as part of a breast lift procedure.
At Bafitis Plastic Surgery, the former model from Nashville had had liposuction as well as the removal of her prior breast implants. According to the Medical Examiner’s findings, she was given the all-clear to undergo the treatments by a doctor at home.
According to the report, she was brought to a recovery centre after being released from the institution around 7 p.m. on March 21. There were no signs of life in Thomas the next day when she “suddenly” stopped responding.
The report stated that Thomas died in the emergency room of a nearby hospital.
In accordance with the findings of the Medical Examiner, Thomas’ surgeon reported that her vitals were normal and that she was prescribed the anticoagulant Lovenox.
Hepatic fatty transformation and modest cerebral enlargement were among the other seven findings in the postmortem report (which is a common finding in people who, like Thomas, had a history of alcoholism).
After meeting at one of his concerts in 1985, she and Williams married in 1990 and have two children. A vehicle accident in 2020 claimed the life of their daughter Katherine, while their son Samuel is a musician.
Sam, 25, paid tribute to his late mother
“My dear Mama Mary Jane was a beautiful soul who forever affected everyone who knew her. She had a smile and presence that lit up every room and she never met a stranger she didn’t befriend. Her spirit was gentle and giving. She could take down a ten-point buck and fix dinner for her grandchildren at the same time! Now she gets to radiate from above with my sister Katherine Diana right by her side,” penned this.
“She grew up competing in baton and cheerleading and was one of Hawaiian Tropic’s top models. My father fell in love with the Daytona Beach beauty the minute he set eyes on her in the early ’80s. They went on to live the most powerful love story of travel and hunting and raising a family. She is survived by my father, her two parents Ramona and Bill, her brother Andy, her sister Angela, myself and her three grandchildren: Beau Weston, Tennyson Hiram and Audrey Jane. Rest in peace Mama, I will always be the son of Mary Jane.”
