Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: How to Enable Ray Tracing

Ray-tracing is now available in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, offering players yet another graphical style to choose from before embarking on their interstellar adventure. At the debut, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy had two modes: Performance and Quality, although ray-tracing was glaringly absent. Ray-tracing is now available on next-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, thanks to the most recent patch. In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, here’s how to enable ray-tracing.

How to Enable Ray-Tracing in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Ray-tracing has been added as a third graphics option, and it may be selected in the same manner that Quality and Performance modes can. Simply enter the options menu, go to the video section, and select ray-tracing as the graphics mode. Ray-traced reflections will now be possible.

However, unlike previous games like Metro Exodus, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy only supports ray-traced reflections, so don’t expect to see ray-traced global illumination, shadows, or anything else. Nonetheless, there are many reflecting surfaces in the game, from the Milano’s hull to the gleaming floors of a Nova Corp station, so the impact should be noticeable.

On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the ray-tracing model is limited at 30 frames per second and reduces the resolution to 1440p. If you have an Xbox Series S, you’re out of luck because this game doesn’t support ray-tracing. Fans of the Series S, on the other hand, can now uncap the framerate, meaning they will no longer be limited to a 30 FPS cap as long as they can accept an unsteady framerate. It works well with displays that have a variable refresh rate.

Overall, the ray-tracing mode in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic addition. It’s a good option for the Quality and Performance modes that are already available. Players who want the highest picture quality can use Quality mode to achieve a native 4K image, while those who desire the new ray-tracing features can lower the resolution slightly to enable them. Those who worry about the framerate can simply select Performance mode and smash aliens at a smooth 60 frames per second.
