Marvel Unveils the ‘Invincible Iron Man’ Teaser Trailer
Marvel Comics has released a trailer to mark the beginning of a new era in the Iron Man comic book series. Writer Gerry Duggan and artist Juan Frigeri are joining forces to revamp the Armor Avenger’s creative direction. They’re working together to bring back The Invincible Iron Man with all-new adventures and the same old enemies like the Living Laser and the X-villain Men’s Feilong. In 2023, Iron Man will celebrate 60 years in theatres, so now is the perfect time to catch up on Tony Stark’s adventures before the big celebration.
The trailer proclaims, “Tony Stark has hit rock bottom.” There are hospital images of a bloodied and bandaged Tony, apparently the result of an explosion he set off. But with his friends by his side, he can’t be stopped. The likes of Captain America, War Machine, Ironheart, Emma Frost, and She-Hulk are among these allies. In addition to Feilong, another armoured villain to add to Iron Man’s long rogues gallery is hinted at.
Originally published in Tales of Suspense #39 in 1963, Iron Man was the brainchild of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. In 2023, to commemorate Iron Man’s 60th anniversary, Marvel will release a new volume of Invincible Iron Man.
Duggan told , “Tony will be tested, as will the armour. As a longtime Iron Man fan, I’m very happy to be throwing everything from my years of notes on the character into one big story. I’ve only pitched stories with beginnings, middles and ends for a while now, and I’m getting to execute on my favourite ideas for both Tony and Iron Man. There is an attempt by our villain to make Tony his own worst enemy.”
The dual-format Iron Man #25/Legacy #650 issue will hit shelves in November. During its Next Big Thing Panel at Comic-Con 2022, Marvel revealed that Iron Man writer Christopher Cantwell would be leaving the series after two years with the aforementioned oversized issue. In the same vein as his time on a Doctor Doom series with Salvador Larroca, Cantwell’s run on the Iron Man comics has contributed to expanding the character’s mythos. The author has turned Iron Man into a god, set Tony Stark against Hellcat, and teased an engagement between Iron Man and the Armored Avenger.
