Major Top level changes and merger of departments in Samsung
Internal reorganisation has been disclosed by Samsung Electronics, with a number of senior changes taking place. New CEOs will be in charge of two divisions: Device Solutions, which deals with semiconductors, and SET, which comprises mobile, TVs and consumer electronics. This is the most significant reorganisation at Samsung since the appointment of three new CEOs for the company’s three distinct divisions in 2017.
The head of Visual Display, Jong-hee (JH) Han, is now also a co-CEO and in charge of the SET division. Samsung claims he is “expected to strengthen the synergies among the different businesses in the SET Division and help drive new businesses and technologies,” and that he has guided the company to the top of the global TV sales rankings for the past 15 years.
Kyehyun Kyung, who was previously CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, is the other new CEO. While formerly working on Samsung’s flash memory product team and DRAM design team, he currently heads over Samsung’s semiconductors division, which accounts for a large portion of the company’s profits.
A new CFO, Hark Kyu Park has also been named for the SET and DS divisions in North America, as well as for the SET and DS North American offices. The reorganisation of the mammoth tech company into two separate divisions for consumer items and components is a result of the management shakeup.
