Colson Baker, better known as Machine Gun Kelly, opened out about the impact of his father’s death in July 2020 on the anniversary of the release of his record Hotel Diablo in the new Hulu documentary titled “Machine Gun Kelly’s Life in Pink,” which premiered on Monday. Kelly claims that his health deteriorated when he met a neighbour of his late father who told him “all these things I didn’t want to hear” and prevented him from “get closure” after his father’s death.
He described his descent into darkness as “I wouldn’t leave my room and I started getting really, really, really dark,” “Megan went to Bulgaria to shoot a movie, I started getting this really wild paranoia, like I kept getting paranoid that someone was gonna come and kill me.” the character says.
Kelly said that he had a shotgun next to his bed at the time. Over time, he became frustrated to the point where he “just fucking snapped.” During their conversation, he informed Fox that she was not “here for me.”
He stated, “I’m in my room and I’m like freaking out on here and… Dude, I put the shotgun in my mouth,” Fox, he said, was “dead silent” while he tried to cock the shotgun, but the bullet became stuck.
Singer stated he and his daughter Casie Baker with ex-wife Emma Cannon needed to “kick the drugs, for real this time” after the event.
Kelly remarked in the documentary, pointing to his skull, “That was kind of where I started realizing like, something’s not right,”
Kelly has been open about his struggles with mental health in the past. In December 2020, he told Dave Franco of Interview magazine that he was in therapy.
“Currently, my drug of choice is happiness and commitment to the art, rather than commitment to a vice that I believed made the art,” he stated in the interview, “two people” He said that treatment was helping him distinguish between Machine Gun Kelly and Colson Baker.
When he proposed to Fox in January, he stated she was “like the sun” to him, and he used that analogy in his new documentary. Kelly dedicated his performance of “Twin Flame” at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards to Fox, saying that he composed the song just for her.
“I know I’ve known her in so many other lifetimes,” he says in the documentary.
