Lil Wayne confirms ‘Tha Carter VI’ will launch soon
Tha Carter VI, the long-awaited new album from Lil Wayne, is finally here.
As he did during his appearance with The Boy and Nicki Minaj for a Young Money reunion at the final day of Drake’s October World Weekend festival, he announced his departure from Young Money. He announced to the crowd that he was working on Tha Carter VI and that it would be out “soon.”
Weezy “had some trouble at the border,” but “Luckily, Drake runs the border,” according to the stage screen during the performance. Wayne later received flowers from Drizzy, who dubbed him “the most selfless man on planet Earth” and said, “You’re the most important man to each and every one us.”
Wayne hinted that his “favourite Carter album is the next one” in a July 2020 interview with Variety, hinting to the possibility of a sixth Carter album. He doubled down on that assertion a month later, claiming during his ESPN interview on August 15 that “[Tha] Carter VI is coming soon, but I got No Ceilings coming first. No Ceilings 3.“ Later, in November of the same year, it dropped.
