Lawsuit Filed Against Ja Morant After Alleged Punching of Minor
A lawsuit has been filed against Ja Morant for allegedly punching a child. As reported by TMZ, the NBA All-Star and his childhood friend Davonte Pack were named in a lawsuit alleging that he punched a 17-year-old who remains anonymous. The case, which was started and filed in Shelby County, Tennessee in 2021 and was previously sealed, has now been made public in its entirety.
It has been stated that Morant and the anonymous teenager got into an altercation during a pick-up game in July at Morant’s residence, leading to the Dalzell, South Carolina resident being “accidentally” hit by a ball thrown by the adolescent.
Ja Morant, 23, became angry and lunged at the person “with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.” The lawsuit states that after the initial blow, defendant #12 proceeded to pummelled the plaintiff with closed fists while they were on the ground.
The first round pick claimed “self-defense” for his acts. After the incident, Morant told police that the youngster had threatened him.
The outspoken Grizzlies star also told police that the minor had “made verbal threats” to “light his house up. he and his family were put in fear by the statement.”
The disclosed documents state that “spectators broke up” the purported fight soon after it started. The case was also looked into by police before being handed over to the DA on October 4th. The DA declined prosecution, law enforcement said.
At this time, the plaintiff’s exact goals in this litigation are unknown.
