Lamar Jackson sets a deadline for the Baltimore Ravens to extend his contract
For the Baltimore Ravens, time is running out. While the 2022 NFL season is still a ways off, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is putting pressure on the franchise to extend his contract. In order to keep his players happy, the quarterback has given the board a deadline by which they must act. It’s safe to say that Lamar Jackson is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Both these guys, along with Patrick Mahomes, have pioneered a new breed of quarterback who is both a threat on the ground and an accurate passer. Even though he hasn’t brought home a Vince Lombardi yet, the fans in Baltimore are optimistic about him on the team.
Jackson, obviously, is well aware of his worth and has no intention of accepting any form of underpayment in the foreseeable future. The quarterback wants to lead Baltimore to the Super Bowl this season, but he may soon be looking for a new team if he is unsatisfied with his deal. Even if Lamar Jackson wants to spend more time in Baltimore, he needs to get a contract extension done as soon as feasible. According to the NFL, the quarterback has set Week 1 as the cutoff for contract negotiations.
“Yeah, we come up to it. It’s coming up. Season’s coming up”, Jackson said to NFL. “We’re going to be good for the season” When he was asked if Week 1 could be the deadline, Lamar said: “Yeah, for sure.”
John Harbaugh, the Ravens’ head coach, has expressed optimism that their starting quarterback will choose to remain in Baltimore. You can’t really rush it. I don’t think either side wants to rush anything; both sides want to be happy when it’s all said and done, and probably both sides are unhappy when it’s all said and done, to some degree, right?”, established.
