Komi Can’t Communicate: Recap of Episode 19
In “It’s Just a Misunderstanding,” Komi is terrified that Najimi Osana would see her clutching Hitohito Tadano’s hand while he is ill. She spends the night drafting them a letter to clear things up. The next day, Najimi notices Komi putting the letter in their locker and rushes away with it. In the letter, Komi indicated that she was only checking Tadano’s pulse. While getting ready for school, Tadano wonders if Komi paid him a visit the day before. When he arrives, he instantly notices Komi and asks her about yesterday, hoping for an indirect confirmation of his alleged hallucination. Komi eventually goes away, ashamed.
Shisuto Naruse, the self-proclaimed gorgeous protagonist, attempts to communicate with Komi for the first time, but she refuses
He is repeatedly blocked by his classmates, whom he mistook for fans. Naruse drops his handkerchief on the classroom floor as he leaves for the restroom. Komi returns his handkerchief on his way back, which Naruse takes as a show of love. The next day, he asks for her phone number, but she hurries away. Naruse eventually obtains Tadano’s phone number and bombards him with selfies.
Tadano, Najimi, and Komi discuss the locations they wish to visit on the next school trip to Kyoto. Komi excuses herself and leaves in the middle of their conversation. Tadano inquires about Komi’s well-being as they walk home from school. She claims to be well but quickly contacts Tadano when they separate. Komi describes over the phone her junior high field trip experience, which has caused her concern for the forthcoming one Tadano consoles her and reminds her that he and Najimi are always available to her. Komi feels better and more prepared for the trip after hearing that.
