Kim K rejects Balenciaga’s new campaign and say no to her relationship with the brand
Kim Kardashian has said that she is “re-evaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga, but it appears that she has already made up her choice, since she has tossed out Balenciaga pieces she had planned to wear to events and turned down an offer from the label.
The design house reportedly offered Kim a role in a 2023 Balenciaga campaign before the release of the controversial juvenile BDSM posters.
Kim apparently decided to turn down the offer before making any sort of public statement once the ads went viral.
According to TMZ’s sources, Kim had intended to wear Balenciaga clothing to events she attends in the coming months but has since abandoned those plans in favour of exploring alternatives from other designers.
Kim’s decision to withhold her critique of the Balenciaga campaign and her departure from the company drew widespread criticism. But as far as we can tell, Kim is no longer under any contractual obligation to the fashion brand and is receiving no payment from them.
Balenciaga’s campaign, which featured child models holding BDSM teddy bears and false legal paperwork citing child porn, incensed the general public.
On Sunday, Kim released a statement in response to the heated discussion, which included the following points: “As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalise child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”
She continued, “As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with – & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,”
“We want to ensure that new controls mark a pivot and will prevent this from happening again. We are laying the groundwork with organisations who specialise in child protection and aims at ending child abuse and exploitation,” Balenciaga stated in a press release. Perhaps Kim’s departure from their ranks had a greater impact than they anticipated.
