KiKi Layne of ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ says her many scenes cut from Movie
KiKi Layne and Ari’el Stachel have joined the ranks of “Don’t Worry Darling’ actors who have spoken out about their experiences after being omitted “from most of the movie.”
“The best thing about #DontWorryDarling is that I was lucky enough to meet @arielstachel. They cut us from most of the movie, but we thriving in real life,” Layne wrote on Instagram Sunday, days after “Don’t Worry Darling” was released in theaters, alongside photos and videos of her and Stachel from production. “Love you Ari,” she explained with hashtags #GotMyCheck, #GotMyMan and #EverythingHappensforaReason.
The actor who plays Ted, Stachel, has been vocal about his diminished role in the released version of the Olivia Wilde–directed Warner Bros. Pictures film. Most recently, he posted a TikTok montage of tweets describing himself as a “glorified extra” in the film with the caption “when you end up on the cutting room floor.”

“My love. You are a queen and your talent shines so bright. I was thirsty then and I’m thirsty now,” while co-star Gemma Chan (Shelley) gave Layne a heart emoji in response to Stachel’s comment.
Layne, who plays Margaret, is seen on the rooftop of a house in the utopian town of Victory, and her presence appears to be what prompts Alice, a housewife, to begin investigating the community’s seeming perfection.
Florence Pugh, the film’s star, has also spoken out on the much-talked-about movie’s release, following a period in which she stayed away from promotional press for the picture because of reported tensions with the movie’s director, Olivia Wilde.
Pugh wrote on Instagram, “This film was such an epic story on such a large scale to shoot, all while during peak Covid times, For that I will always be grateful. To all of you who helped make this, your dedication and love was seen daily – thank you.”
Wilde told Vanity Fair, “I didn’t hire her to post. I hired her to act.”
“I gather that some people expect for her to be engaging more on social media,” Wilde explained. “She fulfilled every single expectation I had of her. That’s all that matters to me.”
