Karol G. Claims that GQ Mexico edited her cover photo on Magazine
The singer of “Provenza” recently claimed that GQ Mexico altered her cover shot over her objections.
She Said “I don’t even know where to start this message…Today, my GQ magazine cover was made public, a cover with an image that DOES NOT represent me, My face does not look like this, my body does not look like that and I feel very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally.”
In the beginning, Karol was “very happy” about being featured on the cover of GQ Mexico’s April/May 2023 issue. However, she claimed the publisher did not take her preferences into account when making adjustments to the photo.
She continued, “Despite making clear my disagreement with the number of editions they did with the photo, they didn’t do anything about it, as if to look good I needed all those changes.”
Karol said, “I understand the repercussions this can have, but beyond feeling it’s disrespectful to me, it’s disrespectful to the women who wake up every day looking to feel comfortable with ourselves despite society’s stereotypes.”
The Latin Grammy winner has always been outspoken about maintaining her own identity in the public eye.
Karol told in 2021, “Everything is about self-love and confidence, being strong in any situation. I want fans to see that I am a real, normal person like them. I go through big and strong situations in my life too but it all depends on you and your attitude in life.”
