Justin Bieber enters the cannabis business
Palms, a well-known cannabis product company, wrote about their collaboration with the singer, “Our goal is to make cannabis more approachable and help destigmatize its use,”
“I got my peaches out in Georgia; I get my weed from California”, anyone who enjoys music will recognise these lyrics from Justin Bieber’s latest hit ‘Peaches.’ Now, taking the lyrics literally, the Canadian singer is preparing to release limited editions weed, also known as marijuana!
As strange as it may sound, the pop star has collaborated with US cannabis specialist Palms to launch a “high-end line” of ready-made joints (cannabis) to commemorate the success of his 2021 album Justice’s hit single “Justice.” The upbeat earworm, a collaboration with Daniel Caesar and Giveon, soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released in March.
The partnership products, which will be available for a limited time, will only be available in California, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Florida, all of which have legalised marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes.
“Our goal is to make cannabis more approachable and help destigmatize its use,” Palms wrote on Instagram, alongside a sneak peek of the “limited edition line of single strain, indoor flower pre-rolls.”
According to Bloomberg, the filtered, pre-rolled joints come in a pack of seven, with a custom Bic lighter and box, both stamped with the word “Peaches,” and cost $32.
“Weed was something that I felt people tried to make me feel bad for enjoying,” Bieber told Vogue. “But I’ve now found a place in my life for weed products that have been beneficial in my human experience.”
Last year, in a YouTube documentary series, the 27-year-old popstar admitted to using cannabis when he was 12 or 13 and eventually becoming dependent on it, though he stated that not everyone has the same experience.
According to Palms, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of limited edition premium products will benefit nonprofit organisations such as the Last Prisoner Project, which advocates for criminal justice reform in the context of drug policy, and Veterans Walk and Talk, which combines walking, cannabis, and psychedelic use as therapy for ex-military men.
Although this is Bieber’s first foray into cannabis products, he is far from the first celebrity to do so. Many celebrities, ranging from rapper Jay-Z to Martha Stewart, have entered the market and released a variety of products for fans.
