Johnny Depp’s representative has denied a Rs 2,535 crore contract with Disney
The actor’s representative has denied rumours of a comeback to Disney. Rumor has it that Disney offered the actor Rs 2,535 crores to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films and even included an apologetic letter. It is been four years since Disney severed relations with Johnny after his ex-wife Amber Heard wrote an op-ed about her experience as a domestic abuse victim.
No, Johnny Depp will not be rejoining the Disney fold. His spokesperson told “This is made up.” It was widely speculated last week that the actor will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
Four years ago, Johnny Depp and Disney had a disagreement that led to Depp’s dismissal from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. In 2018, only four days after Amber Heard’s op-ed in The Washington Post, Disney publicly distanced itself from Johnny Depp.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard started dating after meeting on the set of The Rum Diary in 2009. They tied the knot in 2015. Amber Heard was seeing photographer Tasya Van Ree at the time, while Johnny Depp was committed to French actress Vanessa Paradis. After both of them ended their relationships in 2011, they started seeing one other covertly. It was 2014 when Johnny Depp and Amber Heard got engaged. As soon as a photo of the actress sporting an elaborate engagement ring hit the internet, the story spread like wildfire. In 2015, they secretly tied the knot on Depp’s own island in the Bahamas.
Heard filed for divorce from Depp in 2016, claiming that Depp had harmed her when drunk or high during their marriage. Depp said Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.” which he said was false. In 2017, they finalised their separation. In 2019, Johnny Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against actress Amber Heard for an opinion piece she published in the Washington Post that year. A jury sided with Johnny Depp earlier this month. Additionally, Amber Heard was fined $10.35 million.
