Jay Leno claims to be fine after being burnt in a petrol fire
Jay Leno reportedly sustained “severe burns,” although he said he was doing OK on Monday.
Leno revealed in an interview, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire.”
It was unclear when the fire started or what caused it. The former host of “The Tonight Show” keeps his impressive collection of automobiles in a garage in Burbank, California, just north of Los Angeles.
Despite several emails and phone calls, neither Leno’s spokesperson nor his production firm have responded to the Associated Press.
An email issued to attendees of the financial conference in Las Vegas on Sunday stated that Leno, 72, had to cancel his appearance due to a “serious medical emergency,” as reported by People magazine early Monday morning.
Since Johnny Carson retired from “Tonight” on NBC in 1992, the comedian has been hosting the show in his place. Conan O’Brien took over for Leno in 2009, but NBC reverted to Leno in 2010 when the show’s ratings tanked under O’Brien’s tenure. He stayed in his position until 2014, when Jimmy Fallon took over.
Leno has revived the game show “You Bet Your Life” and put his passion for cars into a CNBC series, “Jay Leno’s Garage.”
