Jamie Spears Wants Britney Spears to be present in court during hearing
In the midst of the ongoing court struggle surrounding the controversial termination of Britney Spears’ conservatorship, her lawyers have once again requested a US judge to dismiss her father’s request that she sit for questioning.
Spears’ lawyers said Jamie Spears’ legal filings showed “his intent to harass, harm, and re-traumatise” his daughter and accused him of descending to “a new low”
Judge Brenda Penny is scheduled to rule on the case later today, so the timing could not be more perfect.
Earlier this month, Judge Penny ordered that Mr. Spears be deposed and be questioned regarding alleged surveillance of the singer at her home.
Prior to the deposition, Ms. Spears’ legal team claimed that the move was “retaliatory”
“numerous misrepresentations of fact and law” were made in Mr. Spears’ prior motions to the court, according to fresh filings filed by his lawyers yesterday.
By providing the Court with ‘exhibits’ that contained Ms Spears’s private and secret, sealed material, Mr. Spears has descended to a new low,” according to the documents.
“Mr. Spears’ most recent filing shows his intention to harass, injure, and re-traumatize Britney Spears even further.
“Any deposition at all would be harassing and re-traumatizing to Ms. Spears, even if Mr. Spears had pushed for the so-called “options” he has suggested (i.e., a “referee,” which would be improper).
“For the foregoing reasons and those in the record, we respectfully submit that this court must adopt its tentative ruling denying Mr Spears’s motion to compel Ms Spears’s deposition.” reads a statement in the record.
