Jake Paul and Andrew Tate Have an Angry Face Off Before Contract Talks Begin
In what would be the ultimate influencer boxing battle, Jake Paul has teased discussions with internet sensation and former professional kickboxer, Andrew Tate.
There has been a lot of talk regarding who Jake Paul will face next. The YouTuber-turned-fighter is now 6-0 and looking for a new dance partner after his career-best win against Anderson Silva, a 47-year-old MMA superstar.
Fans of the sport insist he take face a top-tier professional fighter in the same weight class. While he contemplates and is rumoured to be wanting to reschedule a twice-failed fight with Tommy Fury, he also calls out other UFC competitors in the next breath.
Even though Paul’s video with Andrew Tate is probably more about drumming up interaction and hits than anything else, he is now part of the discourse.
Despite entering Big Brother UK in 2016 in an attempt to gain notoriety, Tate’s star has only lately begun to rise. What got him here was his reputation as a social commentator with provocative ideas that many people followed and supported but that others found inappropriate, rude, and filthy; he called himself a “sexist” and a “misogynist.”
Despite being banned from several major social media platforms for the things he has posted, Tate has a history of MMA competition. A search of web databases revealed that he had 85 battles in the professional kickboxing ring, winning 76 of them. MMA results are less impressive, with just two victories and one loss. He has never boxed in a professional bout.
Even if the Tate video turns out to be a hoax, it still marks a turning point for Paul, who claims he wants to be taken seriously as a boxer and who is confident that he will win a world title before his campaign is over. Although a bout with Andrew Tate would undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz and cash, it would not be a positive development for the sport.
