Working in New York in 1976, she ran upon Donald Trump. According to the biography, the couple tied the knot in 1977.
Donald Trump Jr. was her firstborn child; Ivanka in 1981 and Eric in 1984 followed.
Ivana and Donald’s marriage was often the subject of tabloid articles, and they made an effort to increase their public profile.
For the Trump Organization, Ivana Trump held the position of vice president of interior design. She was the chief executive officer of some Trump hotel enterprises and her design portfolio includes Trump Tower.
Their relationship was publicised in the tabloids, and it ended in divorce in 1992.
It was reported in the 1993 book Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald Trump that Ivana Trump accused her husband of rape and hair ripping during their marriage. However, in a statement released just before the book was published, Ivana Trump refuted her claim.
“[O]n one occasion during 1989, Mr. Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently toward me than he had during our marriage,” she added. “As a woman, I felt violated, as the love and tenderness, which he normally exhibited towards me, was absent. I referred to this as a ‘rape,’ but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense.”
According to Donald Trump, this is “obviously false.”
She continued to make money off of her celebrity status long after the divorce was finalised by starring in commercials for major national brands and founding her own cosmetics line, Ivana Haute Couture.
She caused a stir following Trump’s election by calling herself the “first lady” in an interview with ABC News.
She explained, “I have the direct number to White House, but I don’t want to call him there because Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy because I am basically first Trump wife,” “I am first lady. “
