In France, a nun sought to grab a knife from a guy who was stabbing a priest
In France, a knifeman assaulted a priest, and a nun stepped in to disarm him. She was commended for her bravery. On Sunday morning, an unjustified attack occurred at a church in Nice, France. By way of Reuters, Eric Ciotti, a conservative member of parliament who represents the region, tweeted that a priest named Father Christophe had been stabbed numerous times at the Saint-Pierre d’Arene church.
Sr. Marie-Claude had her arm taken from her attacker by Sister Marie-Claude, he claimed. Brother Ciotti praised Sister Marie-“Extraordinary Claude’s courage from Sister Marie-Claude who intervened as the attacker continuer to stab Father Christophe,” in stopping the attacker from stabbing Father Christophe. While trying to stop the attack, Sister Marie-Claude was stabbed in the forearm.
According to eyewitnesses, during his assault on the priest, the assailant yelled “we have to kill Macron” numerous times. French President Emmanuel Macron won Sunday’s second round of presidential elections, beating his competitor Marine Le Pen in a resounding victory.
Police were able to subdue and apprehend the suspect, a 31-year-old French national. According to a separate Twitter post from Nice mayor Christian Estrosi, he is mentally ill and has no prior history of comparable acts or a criminal record of any kind whatsoever.
Gerald Darmanin, France’s interior minister, said that the assailant had been apprehended. A life-threatening injury was not expected for Father Christophe, according to the doctor.
There was no indication that the incident was motivated by terrorism. A mental examination and multiple stays in Nice’s Sainte-Marie psychiatric hospital had already been conducted on the assailant.
