If Trump is prosecuted, Lindsey Graham warns, “riots in the streets” will occur
On Sunday, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham warned of impending rioting in the event that former President Donald Trump is brought to justice.
The FBI conducted a search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on August 8 and removed records as part of an ongoing investigation that may involve violations of criminal laws pertaining to the unlawful removal of sensitive data and obstruction of justice.
On Friday, the Justice Department issued a redacted version of the affidavit related to the search of Trump’s house. The results showed that there were 184 distinct documents with classification markings, including 67 tagged as “confidential,” 92 identified as “secret,” and 25 marked as “top secret.”
On Fox News’ “If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement, there literally will be riots in the street,” Graham warned, “Sunday Night in America.” As they say, “I worry about the country.”
As an example, Graham brought up Clinton’s handling of official state email. The FBI looked into Clinton’s use of a private server and found no evidence of improper handling of secret material.
There is a “double standard” for Trump, Graham claimed. Graham claims that he and many other Republicans view the ex-president as above the law and that they believe “it’s all about getting him.”
After Graham made his observation, Trump quickly shared the video on Truth Social.
A former Justice Department employee, Mary McCord, blasted Graham’s remarks on CNN.
McCord stated “I think it’s incredibly irresponsible for an elected official to basically make veiled threats of violence, just if law enforcement and the Department of Justice and a grand jury does their job,”
Even anti-gun violence crusader Fred Guttenberg was critical of Graham’s remarks, calling him Trump’s “mouthpiece.”
“He will use that as a hedge against criminal charges & will incite violence when charges come. Looks like @LindseyGrahamSC will be his mouthpiece and deliver the message,” Guttenberg twitted
