“ICONS REALLY BECOME DISAPPOINTMENTS” Cardi B fires back at Madonna
Cardi B responded to Madonna’s criticism of her new single “WAP” with a series of social media posts over the weekend.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the publication of her coffee table book S.E.X., the Queen of Pop had some thoughts to share. “30 years ago I published a book called S.E.X. In addition to photos of me naked there were photos of Men kissing Men, Woman kissing Woman and Me kissing everyone,” And she said, “Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP. Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her naked ass and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball. You’re welcome b-tches”
Cardi felt disrespected and responded with a string of tweets about Madonna that she has since removed. “I literally payed this woman homage so many times cause I grew up listening to her… she can make her point without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth.” . She posted an image of an article from 2018 in which Cardi praised Madonna and added, “These icons really become disappointments once u make it in the industry that is why I keep to myself.”
When fans suggested that Cardi may have misunderstood Madonna’s remark, she responded, “I know exactly what she said and I understand but it’s about THE TONE …
Calling me b-tches and putting clown emojis? The f-ck!” She explained, “EXACTLY SAY WAT YOU WANT TO SAY BUT DONT INSULT ME THE F-CK … nobody gonna lil girl me (specially a white woman).”
Two hours later, both musicians turned to Twitter to inform their followers that they had reconciled. “I talked to Madonna … It was beautiful … Have a great day and drive safely yallll,” Cardi B wished her followers, “I love you @iamcardib!! Always have and always will.” read Madonna’s message to Cardi B.
