We’ve got the commands and buttons you need to hit to thank the Bus Driver in Fortnite for all platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Mobile.

Thanking the Bus Driver is a pleasant easter egg that was added to the game in 2018. Although it has no effect on gameplay, many players continue to do it to pass the time while waiting for the proper moment to exit the Battle Bus.

However, every now and again, a challenge or quest in Fortnite will ask you to thank the Bus Driver in order to gain XP or receive a free prize. It’s critical to know what command to press in these situations before you run out of time.

We’ve got the details you need here, whether you’ve never thanked the Bus Driver before or just need a refresher because you forgot (don’t worry, it happens to us, too!).

In Fortnite, how do you thank the Bus Driver?

In Fortnite, you’ll need to hit the same button that opens your emote wheel to thank the Bus Driver. This must be completed before leaving the Battle Bus at the start of a match.

On every platform, here’s how to thank the Bus Driver in Fortnite:

    PS4
    Using the d-pad, press ‘down’.
    PS5
    Using the d-pad, press ‘down’.
    Xbox One
    Using the d-pad, press ‘down’.
    Xbox One S|X
    Using the d-pad, press ‘down’.
    Nintendo Switch
    Using the d-pad, press ‘down’.
    PC
    press ‘B’ on the keyboard.
    Mobile
On the screen, press the ’emote’ button.

The above instructions or buttons are based on the original control settings for Fortnite. You’ll need to press that instead if you’ve remapped the emote command to a different button.

If you’ve been successful, a notification in orange lettering will appear in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, indicating ‘[your username] has thanked the bus driver.’

In Fortnite, what does ‘thanking the Bus Driver’ mean?

In Fortnite, thanking the bus driver doesn’t grant you any benefits or change anything in the game. It’s just a fun little element for players to find – and a means for them to express their virtual gratitude.

However, certain seasons have obstacles that require you to thank the Bus Driver. You’ll need to follow the right command in the table above for these, and you’ll gain some XP!

For example, one of the Weekly Punchcards in Season 8 requires you to thank the Bus Driver ten times in order to win a whooping 45,000 XP. However, you can only do this once every match.
