How to Get Lileep in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Fossil Pokémon make a comeback, including third-generation favorite Lileep. Before you may bring Lileep back to life, you must first locate the suitable Fossil, as in prior games. In this article, we’ll show you how to locate the Fossil and bring the dormant Pokémon back to life.

How to Find Lileep in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

You’ll need to unlock the National Dex before you can receive your Lileep. To gain access to this extended Pokedéx, you must first encounter all of the Sinnoh dex’s Pokémon and defeat the Elite Four. While this is still a difficult assignment, you should encounter most of the region’s Pokémon along the way to Champion, and once you’ve finished, head to Sandgem Town for an update from a visiting Professor Oak.

Now that you’ve obtained your National Dex, it’s time to locate a Lileep. However, you won’t be able to find this Rock/Grass-type in the wild if you wish to add it to your squad. Lileep, like other fossil Pokémon, can only be obtained by first locating a Root Fossil in the Grand Underground and then bringing it to the Oreburgh City Museum to be resurrected.

When mining glittering locations in the Grand Underground, there’s no way to ensure a Root Fossil, but perseverance is key. The Root Fossil is one of six prehistoric artifacts available in each game, so you can come across a Claw Fossil, Dome Fossil, or another one before you find the one you’re looking for.

Head to the museum in Oreburgh City’s north end once you’ve obtained your Root Fossil. Talk to the scientist at the museum’s front desk, and he’ll ask whether you have any Fossils. Then hand over the Root Fossil, exit and re-enter the facility, and your new Lileep will be waiting for you.

See our entire review of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for additional information on the game. If you’re still having trouble finding your Fossil in the Grand Underground, check out our guide on getting there.
