How to Kill a Garrador Using Only Knives
In Chapter 7, Leon slips into a Salazar Castle dungeon and sees a Garrador in a cutscene. As Garrador’s encounters get harder, this is the best spot to get the “Never Heard It Coming” trophy/achievement.
Since Garradors have a high life bar, bring several knives before fighting them. Since the combat knife will be widely used for this achievement, upgrade its durability.
Leon will start his first Garrador battle in a dark room with chains and the powerful monster. Quietly leave the room and enter the open space. Garradors rush into rooms, swinging their sharp claws.
Avoid the chains and sidle up behind the Garrador in the open area. A Plagas bug on the Garrador’s back makes it vulnerable to stabbing or shooting. This feat requires only knives. You can stab the Garrador by sneaking up to its rear. (which varies depending on your platform of choice).
After you plunge the knife into its back parasite, the Garrador will take heavy damage, but the monster will flail around in all directions with its sword-like claws, so move away, use stealth, and wait for another chance to cut it in the back.
Repeat creeping up, stabbing the Garrador in the back, and hiding until you get the “Never Heard It Coming” trophy or achievement. Depending on your combat knife durability and difficulty level, it may take numerous knives to kill the Garrador, so try this achievement on a lower-difficulty run of Resident Evil 4.
