How to disable your Snapchat location
Snapchat makes it simple to prevent your friends from viewing your location via Snap Maps. We provide comprehensive instructions on how to achieve your goal.
Millions of people still use Snapchat every day to watch content, communicate with others, and create and share their own “Snaps,” or short video messages.
Snap Maps, as the name implies, is a feature of the app that lets users see the locations of their contacts as symbols on a map.

While this may be helpful for some, it’s understandable if you’d rather not share your position with everyone in your address book.
Here’s how to prevent Snapchat from accessing your location in the future.
How to disable your Snapchat location
Snapchat makes it simple to stop sharing your location, and you can choose whether to do so globally or just with a limited group of friends.
- Launch Snapchat.
- To adjust your preferences, select your name in the upper left corner, and then click the gear symbol.
- Select “See My Location” under “Privacy Controls.”
- To activate “Ghost Mode,” move the dial to the on position. When you turn this on, your Ghost Trail will be erased and your friends will no longer be able to track your whereabouts.
You can choose to share your position with “Only These Friends” if you want to share it with a limited group of individuals.
